2025 Piko Gathering

Piko Gathering

August 29-September 1, 2025

Piko Gathering brought together 100 attendees to celebrate and share ancestral knowledge through 18 workshops taught mostly by those on the frontlines.

Participants, including kūpuna, makua, ʻōpio, and keiki from all islands, engaged in discussions on Iwi Kūpuna, Kuleana Lands, Wai, and more. We welcomed everyone who applied on a first-come, first-served basis, but unfortunately, many had to be turned away because we hit capacity very quickly highlighting the strong need for events like this.

The gathering integrated a culture of care, providing rest and respite as we connected and learned together about topics our people are wrestling with right now. We were graced by visits from honu, monk seals, and a spectacular display from the hihimanu on day three—hoʻailona from our kūpuna. This intergenerational and peaceful gathering allowed us to reconnect with each other and our 'āina.

Ka Lāhui Hawaiʻi served as the steward of this gathering of ʻike and mana, with everyone coming together with good intentions.

A heartfelt mahalo to our partners Hawai'i Peoples Fund and Mauna Medic Healers Hui along with all the presenters and leaders who made this event a success.

Due to overwhelming interest, islands are requesting that we hold this gathering annually on different islands. E holomua kākou.
